Signature of Strong Spin-Orbital Coupling in the Large Nonsaturating Magnetoresistance Material WTe2.
We report the detailed electronic structure of WTe2 by high resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. We resolved a rather complicated Fermi surface of WTe2. Specifically, there are in total nine Fermi pockets, including one hole pocket at the Brillouin zone center Γ, and two hole pockets and two electron pockets on each side of Γ along the Γ-X direction. Remarkably, we have observe...
متن کاملUltrahigh bandwidth spin noise spectroscopy: detection of large g-factor fluctuations in highly-n-doped GaAs.
We advance all optical spin noise spectroscopy (SNS) in semiconductors to detection bandwidths of several hundred gigahertz by employing a sophisticated scheme of pulse trains from ultrafast laser oscillators as an optical probe. The ultrafast SNS technique avoids the need for optical pumping and enables nearly perturbation free measurements of extremely short spin dephasing times. We apply the...
متن کاملSearches for skyrmions in the limit of zero g-factor
Energy gaps have been measured for the ferromagnetic quantum Hall effect states at ν = 1 and 3 in GaAs/Ga0.7Al0.3As heterojunctions as a function of Zeeman energy, which is reduced to zero by applying hydrostatic pressures of up to 20 kbar. At large Zeeman energy the gaps are consistent with spin-wave excitations. For a low-density sample the gap at ν = 1 decreases with increasing pressure and ...
متن کاملRovibrationally averaged magnetizability, rotational g factor, and indirect spin–spin coupling of the hydrogen fluoride molecule
The magnetizability tensor, the rotational g factor, and the indirect nuclear spin–spin coupling constant of the hydrogen fluoride molecule have been calculated using large multiconfigurational self-consistent field wave functions and large basis sets. For a critical comparison with experiment, rovibrational corrections have also been calculated. For the magnetizability tensor and the spin–spin...
متن کاملSpin glass stiffness in zero dimensions
A unique analytical result for the Migdal–Kadanoff hierarchical lattice is obtained. The scaling of the defect energy for a zero-dimensional spin glass is derived for a bond distribution that is continuous at the origin. The value of the ‘stiffness’ exponent in zero dimensions, y0 = −1, corresponds to the value also found in one dimension. This result complements and completes earlier findings ...
